Non Detergent Sulfobetaines " NDSB " - NDSB compounds have a sulfobetaine hydrophilic group and a short hydrophobic group that cannot aggregate to form micelles -therefore NDSB compounds are not considered detergents. They have been used to increase yields by up to 30% of membrane proteins. NDSB compounds are also used in refolding and renaturation of denatured proteins. It is hypothisized that the short hydrophobic end on sulfobetaine interacts with the hydrophobic regions of the protein to prevent aggregation during renaturation.

Alkyl Phosphine Oxide Detergents "APO"-is an ideal versatile non ionic detergent useful for plasmid DNA isolation. Plasmid DNA isolated with APO detergents does not require use of phenol / chloroform or proprietary resins. APO detergents provide excellent yield of high quality DNA.
